I want to write in this blog about the deeper meaning to be found in people’s actions, circumstances, and activities. I want to uncover the humanity and God likeness in people. I want to honour God and people in my writing.

In his book “Falling Upward” A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life, Richard Rohr talks about the transition from first half of life tasks which he puts under the general category of “surviving successfully”. He talks about how we are all looking for a lever and a place to stand in order to shift the world a little bit. He goes on to say that in the second half of life we move more fully into discovering what is inside our soul. He contends that the first half of life is about building the container that holds who we truly are. In the second half we delve into it’s contents and discover more fully our true selves.

I have experienced the anxious striving connected with my attempts to shift the world. I can see some of this playing itself out in the blog article which is ironically titled “Moving Mountains”.

The featured image here shows a moment in Calgary in the midst of ministry coaching that I stopped the whirlwind of people and performance and received the blessing of Desi Wahl to slow down and play.

So this blog is more an attempt to be contemplative and search for the meaning to be found in my life and work and not a celebration or a tally of how busy I am, or how much I accomplish.

I hope my quest for meaning encourages and spurs you on to contemplate your own life and work. I sincerely hope it helps you to discover the deeper meaning in what you do and what happens around you.
